The parks in Damascus are a great place to play, relax, socialize, or host an event...as long as the weather cooperates! Damascus has several public parks which are freely open to everyone during the hours posted. The gazebo at the Town Park and stage/pavilion at Laurel Creek Park are available for group and event reservations.

Damascus Town Park
202 South Beaverdam Avenue
The Damascus Town Park is the primary gathering space in town and hosts the Appalachian Trail Days Festival, Independence Day Celebration, Beaverdam Jams, and more. Three trails pass through the park: the Appalachian Trail, Beaverdam Creek Trail, and Virginia Creeper Trail. The Town Park is a popular spot for picnics, group events, and trail access.

Laurel Creek Park, dedicated in memory of John P. Seymore, III, is an idyllic setting at the edge of downtown by Laurel Creek. It is the home of the Damascus Farmers Market, open weekly on Saturday mornings, 9am to 12pm. Access Laurel Creek Park from the Virginia Creeper Trail via the Laurel Creek Connector Trail.

The Damascus Dog Park features two large fenced-in areas for off-leash play and a creekside trail for water access. The dog park is volunteer-built and community-driven, and is a tremendous asset for residents, visitors, and neighboring communities. The dog park is dedicated in honor of Jack McCrady. Access the Damascus Dog Park from Whistlestop Road, off South Railroad Avenue, or from the Virginia Creeper Trail near Trestle 17.

Roy Wright Park was gifted to the Town of Damascus in 1986 by Lissetta Wright in memory of her husband. The primary feature of the park is Josie's Nature Playground, which is made largely of natural materials and provides an opportunity for imaginative, nature-based play. This playground was built in partnership with Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia and with the help of volunteers for a local child, Josie, who wished "to add something really amazing to our town so she could make five friends!" Roy Wright Park has limited parking on-site and is primarily accessed from the Virginia Creeper Trail and Laurel Creek Trail bike path.
